I Heart Ice Cream is a brand new, Thai-inspired mobile ice cream cart that’s ready to hit Dayton’s food and event scene. It’s owned and operated by two Daytonians that just celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary, Liz and Danny Cortes.

August is one of the sweetest months of the summer. With festivals and get-togethers in full-swing, there isn’t a better time to explore your local foodie scene.

Food trucks are one of the best ways to get a taste for local cuisine, and food truck rallies are a hot spot for undiscovered favorites.

These food truck rallies are planned to take place in August around the Miami Valley. This list will be updated as more events are added.

🍴Food Truck Takeover

Wednesday, Aug. 4 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Fairfield Inn & Suites, 7072 York Center Dr., Dayton

Hosted by Momma’z Boyz food truck, the Takeover’s lineup was not immediately available. Stay in-the-know on the rally’s Facebook page.

🍴Party in the Park and Food Truck Frenzy

Friday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Austin Landing, 3601 Rigby Rd., Dayton

The food truck rally will benefit the Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association and feature music from LDNL — “A successful and high profile live pop, dance and top 40 hip-hop band that has toured over seas in other countries. The Songs are merged so there are no breaks in the set so it is almost impossible to stop dancing,” stated the rally’s event page.

Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at universe.com. Kids 12-years-old and under get free admission.

🍴Pickin’ in the Park

Friday, Aug. 6 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

RiverScape MetroPark, 237 E. Monument Ave., Dayton

This free rally is part of the Summer Music Series presented by the Eichelberger Foundation. It will feature a night of “progressive bluegrass music” and a variety of food trucks around the pavilion.

🍴The Yellow Cab Food Truck Rally

Sunday, Aug. 8 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m..

700 E. 4th St., Dayton

The Yellow Cab Food Truck Rallies are hosted monthly on the second and fourth Sunday of each month from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. In addition to local food truck favorites in The Yellow Cab Food Hub, the rallies feature free live music, craft beer and cocktails.

Every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Organizers of the Enon Food Truck Rallies said the event brings “different, unique cuisine to the Enon area” every Wednesday at The Devore Building.
